Honeybee Baked Goods and Cafe

Everything at Honeybee Baked Goods and Cafe is homemade. You'll find that they incorporate their homemade sourdough into many offerings. Without a second of hesitation, I will say this: it's the best sourdough bread (and sourdough goodies!) that I've ever had.

When I recently visited the area for an overnight trip, Honeybee was my first stop. On the way out the next day, I planned my morning around visiting again -- I had to take some goodies (two bags worth!) home.

What I Ordered

The orange rolls were doughy and had a wonderful note of citrus. They are a childhood favorite of mine, though they are incredibly hard to find these days. When I spotted them in the case at Honeybee, I knew that I had to get one (or two!). The sourdough base was delicious, as was the icing; orange zest was incorporated into both, which really took these to the next level.

PS: you can also order homemade cinnamon rolls!

I had to try the brownie, as they looked incredible - and that they were. The brownies were rich and moist. They are definitely a crowd favorite, as I noticed many people ordering them.

The star of Honeybee is the homemade sourdough bread. You can purchase it by the loaf (if they aren't sold out - it's that good!) and they use it to make sandwiches in the shop.

If you listen to one suggestion in this blog post, let it be this: order the country ham and pimento cheese sandwich on sourdough. It's grilled to perfection on a panini press and might be my favorite sandwich in all of Kentucky. If you know me, you know that I am a sandwich aficionado. That said, I did not misspeak with my accolade.

... and don't forget a side! The pasta salad was especially good.
