Elmwood Inn Fine Teas: Retail Store
It's no secret that Elmwood Inn Fine Teas boasts a significant wholesale business around the country, as they are a leading purveyor of world class teas. That said, the family-owned business also operates a retail shop in Danville that will delight even the most worldly of palates.
The cozy shop in historic Downtown Danville has been a favorite of mine for years, as I loved visiting during my undergraduate years at Centre College (just down the street!).
The tasting bar and retail shop offers over 150 single-estate and blended teas for your enjoyment. Shopping at Elmwood Inn Fine Teas is an intoxicating experience for your senses, as there are samples of each tea to smell.
The bar in the back often has tea brewing for your pleasure -- I very much enjoyed a cup of Indian Chai while browsing the store!
With over 150 offerings, you'll never run out of teas to try. They currently offer black, green, oolong, white/yellow, herbal/fruit/rooibos, caffeine-free, dark/puerh, breakfast, wellness, and a plethora of organic teas.
The Danville retail space also boasts tea wares, gifts, books, and foods to accompany your cup of tea.
I personally couldn't resist the lemon curd!
If you are interested in learning more about tea, Elmwood Inn Fine Teas provides tea classes hosted by Tea Maestro Bruce Richardson. Classes may be in-store, online, or recorded for purchase. You can check out classes here.
About Elmwood Inn Fine Teas
The Elmwood Inn Fine Teas story began in 1990 when Shelley Richardson opened a tea room in the Civil War village of Perryville, Kentucky - just as the American tea renaissance was about to awaken.
For the next 14 years, Elmwood Inn developed an international reputation as one of America's favorite locations for a traditional afternoon tea. Bruce and Shelley Richardson chronicled the early stage of their life in tea through three books and eventually launched a tea importing and wholesale packaging company - Elmwood Inn Fine Teas.
Today, Elmwood Inn Fine Teas imports, blends and packages teas for retailers, gourmet grocers, restaurants, tea bars, coffee bars, hotels, and museums across North America.
Shelley and Bruce Richardson have now authored 14 tea books and continue to inspire enthusiastic audiences as they appear at festivals, universities, and cultural events across the globe.
"Our goals are to explore the globe in search of extraordinary teas, to honor and respect the people who work to produce those teas, and to offer exceptional teas to a world thirsting for peace and equality. We are committed to sharing the ideal that tea is a lifestyle; not a commodity."
