Hey, y'all! I only have one word to describe Warnell Family Pharmacy and Soda Shoppe: nostalgic. Growing up in Southern Kentucky, my town had a joint pharmacy/soda shoppe that I loved. In fact, when I think of my childhood, it's one of the first things that I think of.
My family owned two businesses just a few doors down from the Soda Shoppe; after it closed, I - along with the community - mourned. When I walked into Warnell Family Pharmacy and Soda Shoppe, joy was sparked immediately. It was a modern, yet still charming, soda shoppe. I didn't realize how badly I had missed the experience!

That said, if you're like me, you are probably coming to Warnell Family Pharmacy and Soda Shoppe with a sweet tooth. They offer delicious, high-quality ice cream that you can either get in a bowl, cone, or in sundae form; they offer more than 10 ice cream flavors on their menu!
They also take toppings very seriously: hot fudge, caramel, chocolate sauce, butterscotch, peanut butter, marshmallow, maraschino cherries, strawberry, pineapple, whipped cream, chopped nuts, and/or sprinkles. Yes, please!
Other crowd favorites include the banana split, milkshakes, malts, and ice cream floats. They also offer some nostalgic favorites like an Egg Cream (carbonated water, milk, and chocolate syrup - a favorite of the 1920s) and a Phosphate, which became popular in the late 1800s - early 1900s. If you're a coffee drinker, they offer a full menu of cold, hot, and specialty drinks.
What I Ordered
I simply could not resist ordering the banana split. Does it get more classic than that? Warning: it's huge and perfect for sharing!
Warnell's banana split features 3 scoops of ice cream (you can mix and match!), 3 toppings, whipped cream, nuts or sprinkles, a banana, and three cherries. I'm drooling at the mere memory of having it!
Each bite teleported me back into time -- times that were pure, childlike even. Childhood memories that I had the opportunity to relive in the present. I thank them for that.
