Homemade Deep-Dish Pizza Ingredients

  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • ⅔ c. warm water
  • 1 tsp. sugar
  • 2 c. flour
  • 2 tbsp. olive oil
  • 1 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 2 c. mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1 c. pizza sauce
  • 10 slices pepperoni
  • ½ c. sliced mushrooms
  • ¼ c. sliced black olives

How to Make Homemade Deep-Dish Pizza

  1. In a large bowl, combine the warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let the mixture sit for 5–10 minutes, until it becomes foamy.
  2. Stir in the olive oil, then gradually add the flour, garlic powder, and salt. Mix until a soft dough forms.
  3. Transfer the dough to a lightly oiled bowl, turning it once to coat. Cover with plastic wrap or a clean kitchen towel and let it rise in a warm place for 45–60 minutes, or until doubled in size.
  4. Preheat the oven to 400°F. Lightly grease a 9-inch springform pan with cooking spray.
  5. Press the dough evenly into the bottom of the pan and up the sides to create the crust.
  6. Spread the pizza sauce over the dough, then top with the mozzarella, pepperoni, mushrooms, and olives (or your toppings of choice).
  7. Bake for 30-40 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly. Let cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.

Pro Tips For Making This Recipe

  1. Use water between 120–130°F to activate the yeast properly.
  2. Let the dough rise until it has doubled in size.
  3. Press the dough up the sides of the pan to create a sturdy deep-dish crust.
  4. A springform pan makes serving much easier.
  5. Customize the toppings with your family's favorites.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I change the toppings?

Absolutely! Any pizza topping works beautifully in this recipe.

What if my kitchen isn't warm enough for rising?

Preheat your oven to its lowest setting, turn it off, and let the dough rise inside (only if covered with a towel, not plastic wrap).

How do I reheat it?

Bake slices at 350 degrees for about 10 minutes to crisp the crust and melt the cheese. You can also use an air fryer!
