Pro Tips For Making This Recipe

  1. Don’t have a fancy espresso machine? No problem!  Brew strong coffee in a traditional coffee pot. Use 4 tablespoons of ground coffee to 4 oz of water to make comparable espresso shot.
  2. Instant coffee can be used as well.  Following package directions, add the amount of instant coffee needed for an 8-ounce cup to a mug.  Instead of adding 8 ounces of hot water, only add 4 oz. (half a cup) to make a shot of strong coffee.
  3. Milk alternatives can be used in place of regular milk.  Almond, oat, and soy milk will all perform well in this drink.

Frequently Asked Questions

How can I froth milk without a milk frother?

Yes! If you do not have a milk frother, simply whisk the warm milk to add some volume.  This will not make as much foam but will work nicely to lighten up the milk.

Milk can also be frothed by placing milk in an 8 oz mason jar or microwave safe cup with a tight-fitting lid.  Tighten lid on jar and shake milk for a minute, remove lid, microwave on high for 30 seconds for a hot latte, or use as is for an iced version.

Can I make this latte iced?

Absolutely!
1. Brew coffee, combine with maple syrup and cinnamon, stir or froth until combined, and set aside to cool for 5 minutes.
2. Fill a large glass with ice. Pour cooled coffee and maple syrup mixture over ice.
3. Pour in cold milk, stirring gently until combined.
4. Top with whipped cream, nutmeg, and additional cinnamon/maple syrup if desired.
