Easy Lobster Salad Rolls (with mayonnaise)
Frequently Asked Questions
There are two types of lobster salad: warm (butter-based) or cold (mayonnaise-based). This is a mayonnaise-based lobster salad, which is my favorite, and is served chilled. That said, both varieties are wonderful -- it just depends on the flavor profile you desire.
Lobster, unfortunately, doesn't keep as long as many proteins. I recommend eating this lobster salad within a 24-48 hour period, though I think within 24 hours is optimal.
A lobster roll features a lobster salad (mine has lobster, herbs, seasonings, vegetables, mayonnaise, lemon juice, dijon mustard) inside of a sliced roll.
I do not recommend freezing lobster salad; it is best eaten fresh as quickly as possible.

Ingredients, Shopping List: Easy Lobster Salad Rolls
Lobster: You can either get your lobster meat via lobster tails (the easiest) or via claws/other parts of the lobster (which I what I did for this recipe, as it is more economical).
Mayonnaise: I recommend using a high-quality, full-fat mayonnaise for this recipe. Duke's is my mayonnaise of choice.
Dijon Mustard: Grey Poupon is my choice.
Fresh produce: Vidalia onion, celery, lemons.
Seasonings: Kosher salt, black pepper, parsley, garlic powder, Old Bay.
Bread: New-England style buns/hot dog buns/any roll with a split middle.
Butter: Unsalted -- for the roll.

How To Make Easy Lobster Salad Rolls: Step by Step Directions
- Finely dice your onion and celery.
- In a large bowl, combine lobster meat, mayonnaise, onion, celery, dijon mustard, and lemon juice. Season with kosher salt and black pepper to taste.
- Split open your roll. In a small bowl, combine melted butter, garlic powder, and parsley. Spread on the inside of the roll + toast/air fry/cook in a skillet to your satisfaction.
- Liberally spoon the lobster salad into the rolls. Top with Old Bay and serve.

Easy Lobster Salad Rolls: Tips and Tricks
- While more work, it is often less expensive to use lobster claws. Lobster tails are much, much easier; the choice is up to you, as both are rich and delicious.
- Don't chop the lobster too small -- you'll want big, luscious pieces.
- You can use fresh or frozen lobster for this recipe.
- You can use traditional hot dog buns, though New England Style hot dog buns are preferred, as they are larger and deeper.
