- 30 large mushrooms cleaned and stems removed (2 packages - 30 or more)
- 16 oz. cream cheese softened
- 1 c. parmesan cheese shredded
- 16 oz. hot sausage
- ½ c. chopped onion
- 3 tbsp. teriyaki sauce
- 1 tsp. oregano
Preheat oven to 350F.
Wipe mushrooms clean with a damp cloth and remove the stems.
Cook sausage and onion together until sausage is fully-browned. Drain grease.
Mix all ingredients and stuff the prepared mushrooms evenly. The stuffing should rise above the mushroom.
Place a wire rack on a baking sheet. Bake until mushrooms are softened and stuffing has browned, 30-35 minutes.
- Ensure the cream cheese is softened to room temperature for easy mixing with other ingredients, resulting in a smoother stuffing consistency.
- To save time, prep the mushrooms and sausage mixture in advance, assembling them just before baking for a quick appetizer or snack.
- If the mushroom caps are uneven, carefully trim the bottoms with a knife to create a flat surface for stability while baking.
