Ingredients

  • 1 lb. ground chicken
  • 1 egg
  • ½ c. Italian breadcrumbs
  • ½ c. parmesan cheese shredded
  • 1 tbsp. dried parsley
  • ¼ tsp. kosher salt
  • ¼ tsp. black pepper
  • 1 tbsp. minced garlic
  • 2 c. marinara sauce
  • 4 slices fresh mozzarella
  • buns for serving

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, combine chicken, breadcrumbs, Parmesan, parsley, salt, pepper, and garlic. Mix until well combined, then form the mixture into patties.
  • Heat a large, lightly oiled, oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat. Fry the patties for 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they are golden brown and cooked through. Remove the patties from the skillet and cover them with foil to keep warm.
  • Add marinara sauce to the skillet and stir until heated. Return the patties to the skillet and top with mozzarella cheese. Broil on low in the oven for 2-3 minutes, or until the cheese has melted. Serve immediately on hamburger buns.

Notes

  • Mix the ingredients until just combined to avoid tough burgers. Overmixing can make the patties dense.
  • Use a meat thermometer to ensure the internal temperature of the patties reaches 165°F for safe consumption.
