Add the chicken broth, garlic salt, onion powder, salt, pepper, Dijon mustard, pasta, broccoli, and carrots. Stir well to combine.
Bring the mixture to a gentle boil, then reduce the heat to low. Simmer for 8–10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the pasta is tender.
Stir in the heavy cream and cook for 5 minutes.
Add the cream cheese and shredded cheddar, stirring until completely melted and the sauce is smooth and creamy. Remove from the heat and serve immediately.
Notes
Use pre-cut broccoli to save a little prep time.
If using frozen broccoli, steam it first for the best texture. Be sure to fully drain it!
Sharp cheddar gives the sauce the richest flavor.
Shells are classic, but any short pasta works well.
