  • 2 (14.5 oz.) cans green beans, drained (or 4 cups fresh green beans, blanched)
  • 1 (10.5 oz.) can cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 (10.5 oz.) can cream of chicken soup
  • ½ c. whole milk
  • ½ tsp. garlic powder
  • ½ tsp. onion powder
  • ¼ tsp. black pepper
  • 1 ½ c. French fried onions, divided

How to Make Green Bean Casserole with French Fried Onions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the drained green beans, cream of mushroom soup, cream of chicken soup, and milk. Stir until well mixed.
  3. Add the garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper. Stir to combine.
  4. Fold in 1 cup of the French fried onions and the shredded cheddar cheese (if using).
  5. Pour the green bean mixture into the prepared baking dish and spread it out evenly.
  6. Bake for 25 minutes, then remove from the oven.
  7. Sprinkle the remaining ½ cup of French fried onions evenly over the top of the casserole.
  8. Return the casserole to the oven and bake for an additional 5-10 minutes, or until the onions are golden brown and the casserole is bubbly.
  9. Remove from the oven and let it cool slightly before serving.
