How to Make Cowboy Butter Chicken Pasta

Making this dish doesn’t take much time at all! After cooking the chicken, you’ll quickly toss it in a creamy, flavorful butter sauce that coats the pasta perfectly. It’s the kind of recipe that’s easy to pull together, but tastes like you spent hours in the kitchen.

  1. Cook the pasta in a large pot of boiling water according to the package directions. Once done, drain and set aside.
  2. In a small bowl, season the chopped chicken with 1 teaspoon paprika, salt, and pepper. Heat a drizzle of vegetable oil in a large pan over medium-high heat and add the chicken. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the chicken is browned and cooked through. Remove the chicken from the pan and set aside.
  3. Reduce the heat to medium-low and melt the butter in the same pan. Add the garlic, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, 1 teaspoon paprika, cayenne pepper, parsley, red pepper flakes, and onions. Stir until everything is well mixed and the butter has melted.
  4. Add the cooked pasta and chicken back into the pan and toss to coat everything in the sauce. Stir in the lemon juice and heavy cream, mixing well. Garnish with extra parsley and serve hot!

Pro Tips For Making This Recipe

  1. If you prefer a spicier kick, increase the amount of cayenne pepper or red pepper flakes. If you prefer a milder version, adjust the seasoning to your taste.
  2. For added nutrition, consider tossing in some extra veggies, like bell peppers, spinach, or mushrooms. They’ll blend nicely with the creamy sauce.
  3. Choose a pasta shape that will hold the sauce well, such as rotini, penne, or farfalle. These shapes will scoop up the sauce nicely.
  4. To achieve the perfect creamy texture, be sure to stir the heavy cream in slowly to prevent it from separating.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use chicken breasts instead of tenderloins?

Absolutely! You can use chicken breasts. Just make sure to cut them into bite-sized pieces for even cooking.

How can I thicken the sauce?

If the sauce is too thin, you can thicken it by simmering it for a few extra minutes, or adding a small amount of cornstarch slurry (mix cornstarch with water).

What sides would pair well with this dish?

Serve with a side salad, steamed vegetables, or garlic bread to complete your meal. A crisp, fresh green salad with a light vinaigrette works wonderfully.
