Hey, y'all! One of my favorite timeless American recipes is Waldorf Salad, a fruit and nut salad that always delights dinner guests. With one bite, you're transported back in time; that said, there's a reason that this recipe still reigns supreme in the 21st century: it's delicious! Classic Waldorf Salad

Classic Waldorf Salad Ingredients

  • ½ c. Duke’s mayonnaise
  • ⅓ c. sour cream
  • 1.5 tbsp. lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp. sugar
  • 2 c. Gala Apples, chopped into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 c. seedless red grapes, halved
  • ½ c. celery, diced
  • ½ c. dried cranberries
  • ½ c. toasted walnuts, roughly chopped

How to Make a Classic Waldorf Salad

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together Duke’s mayonnaise, sour cream, lemon juice, and sugar. Stir in chopped apples, grapes, celery, and dried cranberries.
  2. Cover and refrigerate for a minimum of 2 hours.
  3. Remove from the refrigerator, stir in walnuts, and serve immediately.

Pro Tips For Making This Recipe

  1. Taste the dressing before adding it to the salad. Adjust the amount of lemon juice and sugar to achieve the perfect balance of tanginess and sweetness.
  2. Allowing the salad to chill in the refrigerator for a couple of hours allows the flavors to meld together.
  3. Serve the Waldorf salad in a chilled bowl or on a bed of lettuce leaves for an elegant presentation.
