Instructions
Pop the popcorn according to the package directions or your preferred method, then remove any unpopped kernels.
Place the red, white, and blue candy melts in separate microwave-safe bowls and melt according to the package instructions. Transfer each color to a piping bag or zip-top bag with a small corner snipped off, or leave them in the bowls for drizzling with a spoon.
Spread the popcorn evenly on a large parchment-lined baking sheet. Drizzle the melted candy melts over the popcorn in a back-and-forth pattern.
Immediately sprinkle the M&Ms and decorative sprinkles over the popcorn while the candy coating is still wet.
Let the popcorn sit at room temperature for 15–20 minutes, or refrigerate for about 10 minutes, until the candy coating is set.
Serve or package it into individual bags for parties and gifts, if desired.
Notes
Use freshly popped popcorn for the best texture and flavor.
Add the candy coating and toppings promptly so everything adheres before the candy begins to set.
Change the candy colors and sprinkles to match different holidays, parties, or special occasions.
Refrigerate the popcorn for about 10 minutes if you need the coating to set more quickly.
