In a large bowl, whisk together the heavy cream, whole milk, sugar, vanilla extract, and salt until the sugar is completely dissolved.
Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or until the mixture is well chilled.
Follow the manufacturer’s instructions to set up your electric ice cream machine.
Pour the chilled mixture into the ice cream machine and churn according to the manufacturer’s instructions, which typically takes about 20-25 minutes.
About 5 minutes before the ice cream is finished churning, add the chopped Oreo cookies to the machine. Let the machine mix in the cookies evenly.
Transfer the ice cream to an airtight container. Place a piece of plastic wrap directly on the surface of the ice cream to prevent ice crystals from forming. Seal the container with its lid and freeze for at least 2 hours, or until firm.
Scoop and enjoy!
Notes
For even faster churning, place your ice cream maker's bowl in the freezer for at least 24 hours before you start. The colder the bowl, the quicker your ice cream will churn and the creamier it will be.
Ensure all ingredients are cold before starting to speed up the churning process.
To prevent ice crystals from forming, press a piece of plastic wrap directly on the surface of the ice cream before sealing the container with its lid.
For extra crunch, add an extra handful of Oreo pieces and sprinkle them on top when serving.
