In a large bowl, combine the ground chicken, egg, breadcrumbs, half of the Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined, then roll into 1–2-inch meatballs and arrange them in a baking dish.
Pour the marinara sauce evenly over the meatballs. Cover the dish with foil and bake for 30 minutes.
Top each meatball with a slice of fresh mozzarella and return to the oven, uncovered, for about 5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted.
Serve over your favorite pasta with the remaining Italian seasoning, if desired.
