Hey, y’all! I’m excited to share my Orange Juice Bread Recipe, which is made with either Blood Oranges or Cara Cara Oranges with y'all today!

Food therapy, for many, is in the form of baking. That's why I wanted to bring y'all a delicious recipe to try today; whether you keep the entire loaf for yourself or share with loved ones, I will promise you one thing: it will be sure to please!

easy bread recipe

I had both Sunkist® Cara Cara + Blood Oranges on hand - and I decided to try the recipe with both to see which I preferred. Each variety proved to be delicious in its own way - thus, I'll share both with y'all.

About Cara Cara Oranges

Cara Cara oranges offer the most Vitamin C of the Sunkist® citrus varieties, with 100% of the recommended daily intake in just one orange - how amazing is that?! You'll find that they look like Navel oranges on the outside, yet have a rich, pink hue inside. They are, to say the least, deliciously sweet!

About Blood Oranges

Blood oranges get their name from the maroon hue of their interior. With one bite, you'll note their distinct, rich taste -- and even a hint of fresh raspberry. They are fantastic for both snacking + use in recipes/cocktails.

About Sunkist

Sunkist is a citrus cooperative that has been supporting California growers for over 125 years – since 1893, to be exact. To me, that means that they are a family of farmers that respect and depend on one another, uniting to share that special California-sunshine and high-quality citrus throughout the world. Sunkist believes in the importance of the individual farmer, which is something that I very much relate to, as I have deep roots in the farming industry here in my neck of the woods in Kentucky.

Apart from that, Sunkist is a sustainable brand that recognizes the vitality of Earth-friendly practices for the future of agriculture.

Ingredients

Bread

  • 2 c. flour
  • 1 ⅓ c. sugar
  • 1 c. freshly-squeezed Sunkist® orange juice either Cara Cara or Blood Orange
  • ½ c. butter melted
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tbsp. orange zest
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 2 tsp. vanilla extract

Glaze, Optional

  • 1 tbsp. freshly-squeezed Sunkist® orange juice
  • ⅓ c. powdered sugar

Instructions

Directions, Bread

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Grease a 9 inch loaf pan (or grease two smaller loaf pans, which is what I did). Tip: since I baked four at one time, I placed the loaf pans onto a baking sheet for ease of grabbing.
  • Stir and combine flour, salt, and baking powder in a large mixing bowl.
  • In a separate bowl, mix freshly-squeezed Sunkist® orange juice, melted butter, sugar, orange zest, and vanilla extract until smooth. Beat in eggs one at a time. Combine with dry ingredients and mix until well-incorporated.
  • Pour batter into the well-greased loaf pan(s).
  • Bake at 350F for 40-45 minutes; check doneness with a toothpick. If toothpick comes out of the bread clean, it is done. If it comes out unclean, allow the bread to bake for a couple more minutes.
  • Allow to cool, slice, serve, and enjoy!

Directions, Optional Glaze

  • Mix powdered sugar and freshly-squeezed Sunkist® orange juice; distribute over bread.

I tripled the recipe which made 9 mini loaves for Christmas gifts! My family loved this bread (cake :)). I used carton OJ and left out the zest because I'm tired. These kids. It was still great, and I'll come back to this recipe. Thanks, fellow Southerner.
