Preheat oven to 350F. Grease an 8 inch square baking pan with butter.
Combine strawberry cake mix, eggs, canola oil, and vanilla extract in a large bowl. Mix until well-combined. Please note that the batter will be dense.
Press the batter into the greased 8x8 pan. Pat it down tight, securing as low of a height as possible. Bake for roughly 16-20 minutes or until they have reached your desired level of doneness. Allow brownies to cool completely, roughly 10 minutes.
In a small bowl, whisk together powdered sugar, strawberry jam, and milk. Whisk until fully-incorporated. Spread glaze over the cooled brownies. Slice with a knife or pizza cutter + enjoy!
Notes
You will want to press the brownie dough as tightly into your greased pan as possible. This will help the batter stay dense.
Do not follow the instructions on the back of the cake mix; you will add a different amount of eggs/oil than you would for a traditional strawberry cake (and no water).
To check the doneness of the brownies, insert a toothpick into the middle. If it comes out clean, they are done.
Allow brownies to fully cool before glazing them; this will help maximize the glaze.
To cut brownies, you can use a knife - however, I recommend a pizza cutter. So much easier!
