- 2 lb. stew beef
- 2 tbsp. mustard
- ½ c. brown sugar
- 1 tsp. liquid smoke
- 1 tsp. garlic salt
- 1 tsp. minced dried onion
- 1 tsp. steak seasoning
- 1 tsp. smoked paprika
- 1 c. BBQ sauce
In a large bowl, toss the stew beef with mustard, brown sugar, liquid smoke, garlic salt, minced onion, steak seasoning, and smoked paprika.
Place the stew beef in a 9x13 baking dish, cover with foil, and bake for 1 ½ - 2 hours or until tender.
Take out of the oven and drain off any liquid. Toss the burnt ends in the BBQ sauce.
Turn oven to 450 for 15 minutes or until they are dark and caramelized “burnt”.
- Use stew beef: It becomes incredibly tender with the long cook time.
- Cover tightly: Foil keeps the moisture in and helps the beef soften.
- Drain before saucing: Removing excess liquid helps the BBQ sauce caramelize.
- Crank the heat: That final blast at 450° gives you the signature burnt ends texture.
- Choose your sauce: Sweet, spicy, smoky, whatever you love works beautifully.
