Dewey Destin's Navarre
The Destin family and Destin, Florida have been intertwined since Dewey’s great, great grandfather, Leonard Destin, founded the town in 1835. The adventure began a few years earlier when Leonard, his father George, and his brother William set out from New London, Connecticut with three ships and ran into a hurricane near Cape Canaveral, Florida. Two of the ships, and Leonard’s father and brother, were lost at sea. Stories had long circulated in the port of New London about the excellent fishing to be found off the Florida coasts and Leonard decided to continue on and look for the best fishing he could find as well as a place to settle down.
Dewey Destin + his family continue his family's legacy in the region by serving up some of the freshest, most delicious seafood in the region. A classic dining destination of Destin, Dewey Destin's expanded into nearby Navarre Beach -- and for good reason. They opened their newest location on the Navarre Sound right next to the Navarre Beach Bridge in 2018. Like the original location, Dewey Destin's Navarre is a fast-casual dining restaurant where you order at a window. After ordering, step outside and enjoy the sound beach, fresh cocktails, craft beer, and finger lickin' good seafood.

The Menu
Appetizers at Dewey Destin's Navarre include spicy seafood gumbo, hot crab dip, fried crab claws, buffalo fried shrimp, and smoked tuna dip.
After enjoying an appetizer (or two!), dive into a grilled or blackened platter (mahi mahi, the Mate's Platter, the market-available fish, gulf shrimp, sea scallops, or yellowfin tuna). If you prefer fried seafood, choose from the gulf shrimp (both regular and colossal portions available), the Captain's Platter, market-available fish, mahi mahi, crab cakes, crab-stuffed shrimp, or oysters. Fresh from the steamer, Dewey Destin's Navarre also offers peel + eat shrimp, snow crab legs, and royal red shrimp.
My go-to order is the blackened Mate's Platter, which features shrimp, mahi mahi, and scallops.
