Hey, y'all! I've stayed in some pretty unique places around the Commonwealth, but this was a first: a train car! Yes, you read that correctly. You, too, can stay overnight in a Kentucky Train Car. It was just as memorable as you might think, if not more.
Stay Overnight in a Kentucky Train Car: Madisonville, KY

Thank you to Hopkins County Tourist and Convention Commission for sponsoring this post. As always, all opinions expressed are my own. Thank you to my readers for supporting those that make JCP Eats possible.
What To Expect
My overnight stay in the train car occurred in one of my favorite communities in Kentucky: Madisonville.
Madisonville is located in Western KY and is chock-full of local shops, good eats, and Kentucky adventures.

The train car provides much more room and amenities than one would think. Located on a family farm, the setting makes me want to return in and of itself. The train car is situated beside a pond; adjacent in the distance, you can see the family homestead.

I loved that the owners built a large deck off the front, allowing for great views of the pond while relaxing. It's the perfect place to have a cup of coffee or tea. If you want to relax on a different level, there's also a hammock on the property.

What's it Like to Stay in a Train Car?
What surprised me the most was the interior of the train car. Upon walking in, you are immediately in a living room area with a couch and a television.

Just past the living room is a much larger kitchen than you'd think possible. It is perfect for an overnight stay and has a well-sized refrigerator to hold all your leftovers from dining around Madisonville.
Past the kitchen is a single bathroom; beyond the bathroom is a hallway that leads to the bedroom. If you are familiar with shotgun homes, a train car is quite similar.

You might've realized I didn't talk about a shower; that was on purpose. A private shower area was built on the side of the train car. There is ample privacy, so don't worry about that; it's also very spacious. I think you'll love it, just as I did.

Stay Overnight in a Kentucky Train Car: Book Now
The property is available to reserve on Airbnb and you can book it here. Just don't book it so often that I can't return - kidding (mostly)!
While in town, don't forget to check out the plethora of local eateries: Ferrell's Snappy Service, Big City Market and Coffee Bar, the Crowded House, Swaggy P's BBQ, just to name a few. Have a beer, too, at Tradewater Brewing Company.
Y'all come back now, ya hear?
My best,
JC
