International Cuisine in Shelby County, KY
It's no secret that I love southern cuisine; that said, if you are traveling to Kentucky, you are only getting the full culinary experience if you try out our internationally-focused restaurants.
There are so many things to do in Shelby County - when visiting there, check out the local farms & orchards, Kentucky Bourbon Trail stops, and extensive attractions. Shelby County is also a perfect place to stay in Kentucky, and you can check out the local accommodations here.
If you're anything like me, the biggest priority when planning a trip is to pick out where you're eating. Three great options for international cuisine in Shelby County include Pisco Sour Latin Family Restaurant (Peruvian/Latin), Cafe 7021 Vietnamese Bar & Grill (Vietnamese), and Milano Italian Restaurant (Italian).
Pisco Sour Latin Family Restaurant
2093 Midland Trail, Shelbyville, KY 40065; follow them on Facebook here.

Pisco Sour is a local, family-owned eatery that boasts flavorful Peruvian + Latin dishes. You'll have the opportunity at the restaurant to try a plethora of craft cocktails (including the Peruvian classic and namesake of the restaurant, the Pisco Sour). Stars of the menu include the Yuca Fries, Lomo Saltado, Tallarin a la Huancaina, Arroz Chaufa, and Ceviche.
Cafe 7021 Vietnamese Bar & Grill
7021 Shelbyville Rd. Simpsonville, KY; follow them on Facebook here.

Cafe 7021 Vietnamese Bar and Grill serves authentic Vietnamese cuisine in historic Simpsonville, Kentucky. While you can carry out, I recommend dining in -- I loved the casual, yet beautiful ambiance and setting. Apart from Vietnamese cuisine, they offer a full bar featuring beer, wine, and craft cocktails. Do try the Bún thit Núóng, which features vermicelli noodles, lettuce, bean sprouts, mint, basil, pickled julienne carrots, radish, cucumber, roasted garlic, shallots, crushed peanuts, and house chili sauce. Other specialties include pad thai, phō, and imperial egg rolls.
Milano Italian Restaurant
1745 Midland Trail, Shelbyville, KY 40065; follow them on Facebook here.

Milano Italian Restaurant is another family-owned business that proudly serves Italian dishes inspired by their grandmother's recipes. You'll find a plethora of handmade pasta made from scratch on the menu, including penne, fettuccini, ravioli, lasagna, spaghetti, and tortellini. Other menu specialties include calamari, filet & gnocchi, salmon, pizzas, calzones, and Neapolitan sandwiches.
Regardless of your choice of restaurant, one thing is for sure: you should travel to ShelbyKY on an empty stomach!
