Hey, y’all! Today I’m excited to bring you one of my new favorite recipes: my Kentucky Beer Cheese Crab Dip! The key ingredient? Kentucky’s own Hall’s Beer Cheese, which is a household favorite of mine. This is one of the easiest recipes that I have ever published here on the site, but also one of the most delicious. To understate: I’m obsessed and I know y’all are going to be, too!
Kentucky Beer Cheese Crab Dip
JC’s note: this recipe could easily be cut in half, doubled, tripled, etc. That’s the beauty of a recipe like this — just adjust it to the party size that you are preparing it for! As for dipping, I’d recommend your favorite crackers, celery, carrots, and/or a baguette.
Kentucky Beer Cheese Crab Dip
8 oz. Original Hall’s Snappy Beer Cheese (1 container)
1 block of cream cheese (full-fat, reduced fat, or fat free – your preference)
6 oz. lump crab meat (more if you please!)
1/4 vidalia onion, diced
3 tsp. Old Bay Seasoning
1.5 tbsp. dijon mustard
Parsley, chopped, for garnish
- Preheat oven to 375F.
- In a microwave safe bowl, heat cream cheese and Hall’s Beer Cheese for 90 seconds. Stir together until well-combined.
- Add in vidalia onion, Old Bay Seasoning, and dijon mustard. Stir well.
- Fold in crab meat softly, allowing the crab meat to stay in as large of lumps as possible.
- In an oven-safe dish, bake for 25 minutes.
- Garnish with chopped parsley.
- Serve warm & enjoy!
The Flavor Profile of Hall’s Beer Cheese
The unique flavor of Hall’s Beer Cheese begins with aged Wisconsin sharp cheddar cheese and finishes with a bit of spice that provides the “snap”. How they achieve the exact spiciness and texture of the beer cheese spread remains a secret, adding to the allure of the brand. I’ve loved it my entire life!
Where To Buy

About Hall’s Beer Cheese
As the name implies, it’s the combination of two of man’s most important achievements: beer and cheese. Add in savory spices and a little heat and you have The Original Hall’s Snappy Beer Cheese recipe developed in Central Kentucky more than half a century ago.
Kentucky has a unique culinary heritage of innovation that has produced some of the world’s most beloved flavors: Kentucky Fried Chicken, bourbon, and beer cheese. Legend has it that this unique snack was developed by Joe Allman for his cousin Johnny Allman to introduce in his various restaurants on the Kentucky River. Johnny allegedly lost one restaurant, along with his recipes, to Carl Johnson in a card game in the early 1960s. After Mr. Johnson passed away, George and Gertrude Hall acquired the restaurant and its recipes in 1965. Since that time, Hall’s On the River has been a mainstay in the Central Kentucky dining scene.
Y’all come back now, ya hear?
