Hey, y’all!

The pandemic is still very much prevalent around our country – and the Commonwealth of Kentucky is no exception. Many of y’all are asking about restaurants around the city that have reopened and the precautions they are taking. I’m excited to be telling y’all today about my experience at Walker’s Exchange.

In short: I was impressed and felt very, very safe.

This was my first outing in a restaurant since early March (a crazy thought, y’all) – and I will definitely return. Diners were socially distant, guests had their temperature checked before entering, everything was immaculately clean + sanitized, and masks were strongly encouraged when both entering/moving around the restaurant.

They also just debuted their patio, which is where I chose to sit — it was so lovely, y’all!

About Walker’s Exchange

Walker’s Exchange offers rich, delicious southern cuisine. The restaurant itself is bright, modern, yet extremely comfortable. Located in the historic Galt House Hotel, it’s a modernized slice of Louisville history, to which they expertly paid homage.

The Details

Walker’s Exchange will be open Monday through Saturday from 6:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and from 4:30 to 10 p.m.; on Sundays, they are open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Be sure to check out their new daily specials: chicken and waffles with bourbon maple syrup on Mondays, along with chicken and crawfish gumbo on Thursdays.

What I Ordered

My dear friend Lori joined me for lunch. After sitting down, we immediately knew that cocktails were in order.

While we sampled many cocktails (including a delicious gin cocktail, pictured) — look no further than the Mezcal Paloma. I don’t say this lightly: it was one of the best cocktails that I have had in a long, long time.

The Salmon Caesar Salad is amazing; I always find myself gravitating towards caesar salads when out.

Last, but certainly not least: the Beer-Battered Cod Sandwich, which is served with a homemade tartar sauce, coleslaw, and a ciabatta roll.

Be sure to visit my friends at Walker’s Exchange if you are looking for a safe outing in Louisville. The food, cocktails, service, and environment are all exemplary. Tell ’em that I sent ya!

Sending my best,

JC
