Savoring The Sweet Side of the Holidays with Frisch’s Big Boy

Dessert this Holiday Season with Frisch's Big Boy: JC Phelps of JCP Eats, a Kentucky-based Food, Travel, and Lifestyle Blog.

Hey, y’all!

I can’t believe it: 2019 is almost over. How is that even remotely possible? Thanksgiving is right around the corner and then it will, somehow, magically be Christmas + New Year’s Eve.

My favorite part of the holiday season is spending time with those that I love the most. In my world, that means pulling out all of my tricks in the food department. However, I want to let you all in on a little secret: entertaining stresses me out. Immensely.

And while I’m sharing my truth: I dread baking/making desserts, as it is my least favorite form of cooking.

Why stress and take away the happiness of the holiday season when you can delegate? That is a hard lesson to learn, though one I am grateful to have implemented. This year I’m putting dessert into the hands of my local Frisch’s Big Boy — and after my holiday taste test, I will assure you this: the task is in good hands.

I like to share holiday goodies with those that mean a lot to me; thus, to taste test prior to the official holiday next week, I invited my friend Shelby over for dessert. Special friendships – especially ones that are ever-growing and ever-changing like ours – are to be celebrated. I truly believe that. And celebrate we did!

The first contestant? Frisch’s Pumpkin Cheesecake – light, fluffy, and full of flavor, cheesecake is always a crowd favorite. Do yourself a favor and order a slice – or five – of this. Your guests will approve.

Next in the lineup: Pumpkin Spice Caramel Cake. This was arguably my favorite of the bunch. I loved the array of textures and the richness. From the soft middle, to the moist cake, to the sweet caramel, to the crunchy pecans — this is a winner. Two thumbs up.

Last, but certainly not least, it is not the holidays without a classic Pumpkin Pie. It doesn’t get more American than that, y’all. Frisch’s makes it easy to serve this essential, as you can order it both by the slice or you can get the entire pie. Trust me: get the whole pie. You’ll thank me later.

Shelby and I debated which of the three would make the cut – and, well, they all did. We loved them all for very different reasons and all three serve separate purposes: a pie, a cake, and a cheesecake. Why have one when you can have three? To my family and friends: be sure to scope these out on the dessert table this holiday season — they’ll go fast.

You can find your nearest local Frisch’s here.

Happy Holidays, y’all!

As always: Happy Eating, Happy Traveling, Happy Living!

Y’all come back now, ya hear?

My best,
