If you’ve been around these parts, my nook and cranny of the Internet, it’s no secret that I love Pizza LUPO, which is located in the Butchertown neighborhood of Louisville, KY.
As the reigning Neapolitan-style pizzeria of the city, I always look forward to Pizza LUPO’s new menu releases, as they consistently please my taste buds!
There’s no better way to start a meal with the team at LUPO than with an aperitif, am I right? New to the menu is the Sophia, which features yellow chartreuse, prosecco and soda water. It’s as tasty as it is beautiful, y’all!
After a beautiful cocktail, I ordered the wood-fired oysters, which featured ‘nduja, horseradish, pesto, and parmigiano reggiano. The flavor was, simply put, excellent.
Next came the pasta course, which was the Spaghetti Aglio e Olio. This dish was comprised of house-extruded spaghetti, Holden Farms elephant garlic, extra virgin olive oil, bottarga, almond breadcrumbs, and Lost Creek Farms parsley.
There’s also a new pasta to the menu, the Gargati Amatriciana, which also features house-extruded pasta, along with house-cured pancetta, tomato, chili, and mint. This dish was so popular that it was sold out when I arrived; however, I’m excited to go back and try it (I’ve heard great things!).
I was also delighted to hear that Pizza LUPO now offers bread service, allowing patrons to order a focaccia of the day – while the toppings vary, all of the focaccia is baked fresh in house… daily!
If you go to Pizza LUPO and do not get one (two or three, let’s be honest) of their perfect Neapolitan pizzas, you are doing it wrong.
Just trust me, y’all.
We started with the Moonchild, which had taleggio, potato, moroccan olives, oyster mushrooms, and bechamel. A very unique pizza — it’s finger lickin’ good!
Next was the Milk & Honey, which is my favorite item on the menu. The Milk & Honey has house-made buttermilk ricotta, cambozola, Holden Farms garlic, and spicy honey – and it is quite possibly the best pizza that I have ever had.
Also, I want to take a minute and pay my respects to LUPO’s beautiful, perfect crust.
The best part of the meal? I got to share it with my great friends, the lovebirds, Shelby and Alex. Food is best when shared, y’all. It brings us together, to a common table, to enjoy one another’s company. I will never be able to hyperbolize how much that means to me.
Planning your next dinner? Look no further than with my friends at Pizza LUPO – and do tell them that I sent ya!
You can visit them at 1540 Frankfort Ave., Louisville, KY 40206.
As always: Happy Eating, Happy Traveling, Happy Living!
Y’all come back now, ya hear?
