It’s no secret that I love Derby, Derby Parties, and, well, any excuse to throw a shindig. I love cooking for my people, opening up my house to those that I love most, and making memories together.
But, I have a confession.
It stresses me out — immensely.
While it always goes over smoothly in the end, it is usually due to a few conscious efforts. Something – at least one thing – should be store-bought/restaurant made. It makes everything easier. However, when it comes to Derby and when you are a Kentuckian, parties are much more complex (and come with higher expectations). To be an ideal Derby Party host/hostess, you must master the food, the drinks, and the social aspects. It can be hard to balance – I know from experience.
That’s where my secret weapon comes in: On The Rocks Cocktails.
On The Rocks Cocktails are award-winning, mixologist-created, ready to serve libations — they are high-quality and downright delicious, y’all. All you need to do is open the lid and pour over ice; it doesn’t get much easier than that!
There’s truly an OTR Cocktail for everyone.
A gin lover like I am? Try the Aviation, which is crafted with Larios London Dry Gin, along with dry cherry, lemon, and violet notes.
For Old Fashioned aficionados, they have one made with Knob Creek, bitters, cane sugar, orange, cherry, and lemon zest.
Transport yourself to the beach with the Mai Tai, which has Cruzan rum, orange, pineapple, orgeat, and coconut flavors.
I won’t list them all (trust me, you’ll want to try them for yourself!), but don’t miss out on the Pineapple Jalapeño Margarita, the Cosmopolitan, or their classic margarita while you’re at it…
Each time that I have served On The Rocks Cocktails to my guests has been an overwhelming success. There’s a drink for all palates — and then there’s one (or two!) for the host, if you know what I mean. That, my friends, is my secret weapon this Kentucky Derby season.
The best part? You can find them at your local Kroger in the Louisville area; to check availability near you, click here.
As always: Happy Eating, Happy Traveling, Happy Living!
Y’all come back now, ya hear?
