Hey, y’all!
Nestled in Downtown Louisville is a fantastic oasis of southern food — one that is not to be missed. On plates at Porch Kitchen & Bar, you’ll find elevated comfort food, classics, and southern flair; in your glass, you’ll find craft cocktails with great liquors, fresh herbs, and delectable profiles.
Porch Kitchen & Bar sees itself as a destination, as the front porch is for many (especially for us south of the Mason-Dixon). The name comes from the cultural significance of the American porch: the neighborhood’s living room, a place to pass time, and a place to connect people.
I love that notion, y’all — isn’t that what food does for all of us?
Upon entering, you’ll in be in awe of how gorgeous the space is; sit down, have a drink, stay for a while, and prepare your palate for a fabulous meal.

I was recently invited to sample some of their menu. My good friend Jackie joined me; to understate, it was a fabulous evening of great food and friendship. We left already planning our next visit!
What We Ordered:
You must start your meal with a cocktail. If you’re a bourbon aficionado, you’ll love the selection — Jackie started her meal with an old fashioned. She then proceeded to order a second, if that’s any inclination as to how good it was.
The Porch Kitchen & Bar is famous for their Lump Crab Hush Puppies. An elevated classic, which you know that I love. The addition of crab is, dare I say, genius.
If there’s a tuna poke bowl on the menu, I want it. Their Spicy Tuna Poke Bowl features tuna, baby bell pepper, cucumber, snap peas, toasted sesame seeds, and a fabulous ginger dressing.
The best thing that I tried on the menu, hands down, was the Smoked Beef & Cheddar, which features chopped beef brisket, sharp cheddar, and spicy BBQ sauce. It was SO delicious — I’ve been craving it, y’all.
Of course, we had to have dessert. We ordered the “Everything” Cake Doughnuts, which has a build-your-own concept. Jackie loved it — and if you are a hands-on diner, this is a dessert for you.
The other dessert, my favorite, was the Warm Butter Bourbon Cake, which has French vanilla ice cream and candied pecans. It was a perfect end to a fabulous meal!
You can visit my friends at Porch Kitchen & Bar at 280 W Jefferson St., Louisville, Kentucky 40202. Tell ’em that I sent ya!
As always: Happy Eating, Happy Traveling, Happy Living!
Y’all come back now, ya hear?
My best,
JC
