Plus-Size Belt-Shopping

November 7, 2018

Hey, y’all.

I talk a lot about being plus-sized on social media: body positivity, food positivity, lifestyle, fighting stigmas, eating disorder recovery, and more.

One thing that I have not delved too deeply into is fashion. First and foremost, I am not a fashion blogger; however, it is something that I enjoy exploring. It is for this reason that I might – from time to time – incorporate it more so into my content. Is that cool with y’all?

To start, there is a distinction to make. There are industry-deemed plus-sized individuals and there are what I call super plus-sized individuals. I am included in the latter. By this distinction, I typically provide the following criterion: I, at times, size out of plus-size offerings. By that, I am saying that I am – on occasion – too big for the big and tall / plus-size sections.

This is a reality that many of us face and I think it needs to be discussed more than we already do.

Now, real talk.

I am an apple-shaped man; all of my weight is in my upper body, specifically my shoulders and my stomach. It is for this reason that I immensely struggle in finding the perfect belt. Stretchy belts are my go-to; however, they are often too casual and are not very luxurious. This was a problem that I was determined to remedy – and luckily for me, Clayton and Crume came to the rescue.

What is Clayton and Crume?

The owners Clay and Tyler said it best: “Raised in the heart of bourbon country, we grew to value what was storied, tested, and enduring. The traditions of our upbringing taught us the value of honest, hard work, and the pride that’s earned by creating something with your own two hands. After meeting in college, we began our creative journey with the simple idea that, like grandpa’s luggage and dad’s time tested belt, all leather goods should last a lifetime.”

High-quality goods made in Kentucky? I’m sold. The quality is that of a luxury brand in my opinion – at a fraction of the cost.

We are lucky to have them in our Commonwealth and I am so honored to be partnering with them on this post.

I wanted a high-end belt – but, I needed the strap to put the buckle on. In essence, Gucci and Hermes told me that I was too fat. I took my vision to the people at Clayton & Crume and they made my vision a reality. They custom-made my belt to my waist size – a size that is never available in stores.

Because I already had buckles that I wanted to use, they added Chicago screws to the belt so I could interchange my buckles. A great touch!

You heard it here. No matter what size you are, Clayton & Crume will not only accommodate you – they are proud to do so. That’s a company that I can get behind.

From a small to an 8XL – you’re good with them. Thank you for being friends of Kentuckians and the plus-size community, Clayton & Crume.

I urge y’all to consider them for all of your leather needs & during this holiday season. It’s so much more fulfilling to shop local!

As always: Happy Eating, Happy Traveling, Happy Living!

Y’all come back now, ya hear?

My best,
